DOUGLAS, Ga. (WALB) — An employee of a private prison company operating in Coffee County is facing multiple charges, including sexual assault, following what appears to have been an internal investigation.

According to jail records, 32-year-old Lexie Ezandrielle Murphy of Douglas was booked on May 10, 2026. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office is listed as the arresting agency.

Booking records show Murphy received three separate $5,000 property bonds tied to the charges.(Coffee County Sheriff's Office)Murphy is charged with:

Sexual Assault by Correctional/Juvenile Detention/Disability Services/Child Welfare/Youth Services Employee

Violation of Oath by Public Officer

Giving to or Possession by Inmates Prohibited Items

Booking records show Murphy received three separate $5,000 property bonds tied to the charges.

After WALB reached out for information, the Georgia Department of Corrections said the facility involved is operated by CoreCivic, a private prison operator and one of the nation’s largest for-profit prison and detention contractors.

At this time, authorities have not publicly released details surrounding the allegations, including when the alleged incidents occurred or whether inmates were involved.

WALB has reached out to CoreCivic for information regarding Murphy’s employment status, details surrounding the investigation, and whether the investigation originated internally at the facility.

WALB has also requested incident reports and additional records. As of publication, additional details have not been released.
