What is my Life in prison like without God? Without belief and faith in God my prison life would be a living hell. It has been, and would be a miserable existence. Nothing went right, no drugs helped, and no amount of physical exercise would cure my downward spirals into depression and thoughts of suicide. Deluded with thoughts that others were responsible. Its all come down to a mental choice. You either chose to believe or you don't. Jesus said to have faith like that of little children, did He not. Whether your doing time in prison, or your on the street, its the same basic principles really. Do you believe in God? Really believe? Have you asked, and do you trust Jesus Christ as your chief guidance counselor? Or do you trust and rely on your own judgment and wisdom to guide you through life? I can't do it alone. What a comforting thought to know with confidence that God exist and is in control of it all. Knowing that we are in His perfect will and that He is watching over us. God is working according to a fixed, eternal purpose. Ephesians 1:11 says, " He works all things according to the counsel of His will." BUT, without faith it's impossible to please God. For we must first believe that He is. Hebrews 11:6. He doesn't want sacrifices, all that He requires of us is that we believe that He is. So simple, even little children know, yet hard for an adult to accept. We are encouraged to "live by faith and not by sight." ~ 2 Corinthians 5:7. It's sometimes hard to maintain the discipline of walking by faith and not by sight. But for me living and having my existence in prison it's a must. Like food, fresh air, and water, without faith I am surely lost, and headed for self destruction. I've experienced this so many times before. And even though I know this truth deep down in my heart, I still must remind myself daily. Whether we're on the street, or in prison... Know that no matter what the circumstances and surroundings may appear to suggest, God has the final say so in the matter. Thank God appearances can be deceiving. Rest assured knowing that we are in His perfect will for our lives, no matter where we're located, or what the circumstances may appear to be. "And we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." ~ Romans 8:28. Outside of Romans 8:28 all is confusion and anxiety, fear and uncertainty. The law of attraction... With belief and faith everything changes. Theres no longer a need for drugs and harmful habits as cheap solutions. Substitutes that never solve nor satisfies. With faith there comes into your life stability, a depth and freedom. The confidence of knowing that a sovereign God governs for your good in all that happens. God can still make my miserable Life sentences useful. We might not see the hand of God working in our suffering. And we might neglect to meditate on the fact that our purpose in this world is to serve God's purpose, His will... Without Romans 8:28 we might rightly conclude that our sufferings and sorrows are without meaning when we look back at all the mistakes and misfortunes that have befallen our lives. But our future in not in the past; it is in Gods providential hands. That means we have an opportunity to change our attitudes and actions. God has given us the capacity of recovery... "Return to me, says the Lord of host, And I will return to you..." ~ Zachariah 1:3.
