These briefs include:

- Key facts and dates
- Story contradictions

## Press Briefing Materials

GPS produces two types of briefing materials for journalists: **research briefs** that provide deep analysis of systemic issues, and a weekly **media intelligence brief** that highlights unreported patterns, data discrepancies, story leads, and investigative starting points across Georgia's prison system.

### Media Intelligence Brief

Updated weekly, the GPS media intelligence brief compiles the most newsworthy patterns from our databases — facilities with escalating death counts, discrepancies between GDC claims and verified data, settlement payouts, staffing collapses, and story leads that haven't been covered. Built from 313 structured intelligence items, 1,770+ tracked deaths, and verified GDC statistical reports.

### Research Briefs

The GPS Research Division produces in-depth analysis of systemic issues — from healthcare failures and prison labor exploitation to wrongful convictions and infrastructure collapse. Each research topic is translated into a press briefing written specifically for journalists: source-ready data points, reportable findings, and background you can use immediately in your coverage.

Topics include privatized healthcare failures, prison classification breakdowns driving violence, zero-wage labor exploitation, wrongful convictions, the $600M infrastructure crisis, and parole system collapse. New briefings are published as research is completed.

### Facility-Level Intelligence

GPS tracks all 114 active GDC facilities with population data, mortality records, and investigative coverage. Browse individual facility intelligence profiles for specific incidents, deaths, conditions, and legal actions.

    Who We Are

## About Georgia Prisoners' Speak (GPS)

GPS is an independent investigative organization documenting violence, corruption, medical neglect, underreported deaths, and constitutional violations inside the Georgia Department of Corrections. We combine:

- Direct communication with incarcerated witnesses
- Statements from families and victims
- Open records requests and public documents
- Internal state reports
- Data analysis
- On-the-ground verification

GPS exists because Georgia's prison system routinely conceals information from the public, the press, and even families of the deceased.

**Our mission is simple: expose the truth the state refuses to tell.**
