Report a Death

The Georgia Department of Corrections does not publicly report cause of death for people who die in its custody. This creates a gap in accountability that families, researchers, and advocates need filled.
Your report helps us build a more complete record of what’s happening inside Georgia’s prisons.

How this works:

Start by searching our existing records. All you need is a name. If the death is already documented, you can add cause of death information we may not have. If we don’t have a record of this death, you can submit a new report.
All submissions are reviewed by our staff before being added to our public database. We will never publish information that could identify you as the source of a report.
