I. POLICY:

   Detention Center and Boot Camp detainees are required to
   maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and a high
   standard of cleanliness regarding their immediate surroundings
   and possessions.

II. APPLICABILITY:

   Probation Detention Centers and Probation Boot Camps.

III. RELATED DIRECTIVES:

   A. GDC Board Rule: 125-2-3-.04.

   B. ACA Standards: 1- ACBC-4C-03, 1- ACBC-4C-04, 1- ACBC-4C      05.

VI. PROCEDURE:

   A. Detainees will be required to bathe daily after
      completion of work details. Particular attention should
      be paid to detainees assigned to food services. They will
      additionally be required to shower prior to reporting to
      work.

B. Detainees will be required to wear clean clothing and
   have clean bed linen and towels. They will exchange dirty
   articles at designated times.

C. Detainees will be provided basic personal hygiene
   necessities to include soap, razor, toothbrush and
   toothpaste.

D. Upon admission, all male detainees will receive a short
   GI haircut with a 000 blade. No beards or sideburns
   extending below the ear canal are allowed. A mustache may
   be worn, but cannot extend beyond the edge of the mouth
   and must be neatly trimmed. The GI haircut will be
   maintained until the detainee is within 30 days of his
   expected release date.

E. Detainees will be required to store all issued and
   personal property in their assigned storage space. This
   space will be maintained in a neat and sanitary condition
   at all times. Organization of items will be standardized.
   Shoes will be stored under the bottom bunk in a straight
   line.

F. Detainees shall be required to make their bed and clean
   the area around their bed every morning and as needed as
   determined by staff. The bed will be made in a
   standardized manner. Clean clothing will be neatly stored
   in a storage space. Dirty clothing will be kept in a
   laundry bag hanging on their bed or designated location
   until collected.
