Pronounced: 2025-06-26 at 02:42 AM by Paul Davison (responding coroner)
Coroner narrative: 911 dispatched coroner at 12:46 AM; arrived at Rogers SP 1:20 AM. GRC team arrival delayed ~1 hour before coroner had access to cell. Decedent found lying on floor next to bed; per Guard King, originally found hanging from a vent with a belt around neck. GBI photographer Michael Howell took scene photos. Body bagged + tagged for GBI transport.
GBI ME autopsy: Limited autopsy 2025-06-27 at 8:30 AM, Coastal Crime Lab, Pooler GA. MDI Log ME-25-60490 / DOFS Case 2025-6007358. Pathologist: Daniel K. Brown, MD. Death Investigation Specialist: Danielle Windows. PEER REVIEWED.
Findings: Ligature furrow on neck (1" to 1/2" wide, 1/8" depth) centered 9.5" from top of head anteriorly; 7" laterally on right and 7.5" on left. Ligature (reported as belt) did not accompany body. Brain 1510g, swollen and congested. Heart 520g, no atherosclerosis. Lungs 700/600g with bloody frothy fluid. No external trauma. EKG lead patches on torso (attempted resuscitation only).
History (per GDC offender summary in coroner packet): mental health issues (unspecified) + hypertensive cardiovascular disease.
Body release: Burial at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, Abbeville GA (decedent home county Wilcox) 2025-06-29 via Frazier and Son Funeral Home (Rochelle GA).
