Inmate dies at Coastal State Prison

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – A Coastal State Prison inmate died on Sunday, the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) has confirmed to WTOC.
A spokesperson for GDC says DeJarvis Walker died on February 8th. The cause of his death is undetermined, but there are currently no reports of an altercation and no signs of foul play.
Walker’s body was was turned over to the Chatham County Coroner’s Office, and according to the spokesperson, a cause of death will be determined at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Pooler.
The GDC’s Office of Professional Standards is investigating Walker’s death.
Walker was serving a 10 year sentence for criminal attempt out of Fayette County and was scheduled to be released by March of 2029.
