An incarcerated woman died Monday from tuberculosis complications after being transferred between two Georgia Department of Corrections facilities, WGXA reported. According to the GDC, she entered custody at McRae’s Women’s Diagnostic Facility and was later transferred to Pulaski State Prison, where she became acutely ill and was hospitalized on October 3. The GDC said it completed contact tracing under Department of Health guidelines and will test all staff and offenders who were exposed, as well as anyone who requests screening, with appropriate medical care and referrals provided. The department said infection control protocols were initiated at the facilities, including quarantine status for identified dorms or other areas. WGXA said it has requested additional information from the GDC.
