GPS asked the Department of Administrative Services' Risk Management Services for a report of every liability claim paid, by settlement or judgment, on behalf of the Georgia Department of Corrections since July 1, 2017. DOAS released a spreadsheet of 264 claims and 333 payment lines totaling $50,629,498.03, with checks dated July 7, 2017 to July 1, 2026. For each payment it gives the claim number, the claimant's name, the amount, the payment type (bodily injury, personal injury, attorney fees, refunds), the check date, the prison or office involved, and the incident date.

Status: DOAS released the spreadsheet on July 9, 2026, ten days after the request. It names about 255 individual claimants, most of them people who were held in GDC prisons, so GPS publishes it here without the names; every other column is unchanged. The original spreadsheet is withheld from this page.
