On June 24, 2025, 62-year-old Mickey Skyles died while in custody at Hudson, according to GPS death records. The cause of death was not publicly detailed.
Several months earlier, on April 6, 2025, GPS intelligence reports document an alleged assault by a Corrections Emergency Response Team (CERT) at the center. The reports, sourced from incident accounts collected by Georgia Prisoners’ Speak, state that a CERT team from Rutledge under Lt. Lonesca Carlton beat resident Michael Schullerman without justification. Schullerman sustained a split lip requiring 12 stitches and was allegedly coerced into signing a false statement about the origin of his injury. The incident occurred during Fleming’s tenure as facility lead.
