How Grades Are Calculated
Each legislator receives a score from 0-100 based on four dimensions:
Ratio of responses to advocacy communications received. Any response — positive or negative — counts.
Percentage of GPS-tracked bills where the legislator voted in favor of reform. If no bills have been tracked, this dimension is excluded and others are reweighted.
Penalizes legislators who receive heavy advocacy but don't respond. High volume with zero responses lowers the score.
Deaths and conditions in GDC facilities within or near the legislator's district. Legislators representing areas with serious prison conditions who take no action score lower.
Grading Scale: A (90-100) · B (80-89) · C (70-79) · D (60-69) · F (below 60)
Grades are recalculated weekly. Data sources include GPS campaign records, legislator response tracking, GDC mortality data, and publicly available voting records.
