Inmate health care contracts: Centurion (medical), MHM (mental health and dental) and CorrectRx (pharmacy)

Georgia Department of Corrections · Request R032595-101926 · Filed October 19, 2026 · Fulfilled

We asked the Georgia Department of Corrections for its inmate health care contract with Centurion of Georgia, with every amendment and staffing plan; Centurion's most recent staffing report; and any list of Centurion staff by facility.

GDC released 46 files. They cover three contracts: Centurion's medical contract (effective April 9, 2024, priced in the contract at $240,000,000 a year for 38,000 people at July 2024 rates); the mental health and dental contract held by MHM Correctional Services, which has been owned by Centurion Equity since January 2023; and the CorrectRx pharmacy contract. They also include the earlier Wellpath medical contract. GDC first released the Wellpath contract in place of Centurion's; after we pointed that out, it released the Centurion contract and the missing amendments the next day.

We are publishing 43 of the 46 files as released. Three files list individual Centurion and MHM employees, one of them with pay rates, and we are not publishing those. From Centurion's staffing workbook, one of the three, we publish the hours by prison, position and month, with no names.

Status: GDC released 35 files on October 27, 2026 and 11 more on October 28, 2026. Not published by GPS because they list individual employees: Centurion's staffing workbook "GA-MED Productive hours compared to Matrix Jul25-Dec25" (it names each employee and gives pay rates), Centurion's medical site contact list, and MHM's dental staff contacts.

What we asked for

Under the Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. § 50-18-70 et seq., The GDC Accountability Project, Inc. (Georgia Prisoners' Speak), a Georgia nonprofit, requests the following existing records about the Department's inmate health care contract with Centurion of Georgia, LLC.1. The current contract or contracts between the Department and Centurion of Georgia, LLC for inmate health care services, including medical, mental health and dental care, with all amendments, renewals, exhibits and attachments. That includes any staffing plan or staffing matrix listing the required positions by facility.2. The most recent monthly staffing, vacancy or fill-rate report that Centurion submitted to the Department under that contract, showing filled and vacant positions by facility. One month is enough.3. Any existing list of Centurion personnel currently assigned to Department facilities, showing each person's name, job title and assigned facility, for example a list kept for facility access, identification badges or credentialing. Under O.C.G.A. § 50-18-70(b)(2), this includes such a list kept by Centurion in performing the contract on the Department's behalf. We are not asking for patient information. We are not asking for home addresses, dates of birth or other personal identifying details, and we understand those may be redacted. We are not asking the Department to create new records. If this request turns out to be large, please produce item 1 first.Electronic delivery through this portal or to accountability@gps.press is ideal. We agree to reasonable copying and administrative fees up to $50.00; please let us know before going over that amount, with the itemization described in O.C.G.A. § 50-18-71(d). We understand and accept redactions required by law.The GDC Accountability Project, Inc. (Georgia Prisoners' Speak) 285 W Wieuca Rd NE, PMB #4153, Atlanta, GA 30342 accountability@gps.press · https://gps.pressIn plain terms, what we are looking for: who provides health care, especially mental health care, inside GDC facilities under the Centurion contract: the contract and its staffing plan, Centurion's latest staffing report, and a list of Centurion staff by facility with names and job titles.
